CLT209 Media and Culture (8)
Abstract
Media and Culture introduces students to the fields of media studies and does so in a Cultural Studies context. It introduces the history of these two fields and traces key ideas from that history, such as narrative theory, semiotics and discourse analysis. The subject also looks at critical issues in media and culture, such as news reporting, surveillance, and media narratives. The subject is not confined to Australian contexts, but does take a situated view both of fictional and non-fictional screen texts and crtiique. |
