Abstract
The subject develops Honours students’ understanding of key thinkers and theories in political science through a selection of topics. The topics are selected in consultation with the supervisor so as to enrich students' sense of the selected field (Dissertation subject). It equips them with a theoretical and contextual basis to engage with their Politics Honours project/dissertation. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:

- be able to critically evaluate different political theories to contemporary political issues
- be able to use political theories and concepts in their own writing

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Key thinkers in political science since Aristotle
- Theoretical ideas, perspectives and debates within political science
- Selected topics by the student in consultation with the supervisor drawn from political science e.g. Australian politics and political history, international relations, and media politics
