Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of a range of sociological theorists and their contributions to the field; have developed a complex appreciation for the central issues and problems of sociological theory; be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the intellectual and social contexts in which sociological theories have been developed; be able to assemble ideas about sociological theory into a coherent argument of high standards, applying the tools of critical analysis; and be able to demonstrate in depth an understanding of the relationship between theory and the research agendas and processes of contemporary sociology.
