Manildra Group

Manildra Group (100% Australian Owned) This year Manildra Group commemorates their 70th birthday, celebrating the rich history of our family-owned Australian business, our people, farming families and communities in which Manildra Group is very proud to be part of.

Our long history stretches back to 1952, when the Honan family purchased a flour mill in the New South Wales central west town of Manildra. Today, that very same Manildra Flour Mill is Australia’s largest, operating 365 days a year, 24 hours a day to produce flours and bakery mixes for family kitchens to some of the world’s biggest brands. We’ve been partnering with Australian wheat farming families – some for many generations and, stretching back to the early 1950’s with farmers delivering wheat to the mill by horse and cart!

After seven decades, we have grown to become a world-leading manufacturer – committed to value-adding, investing and diversifying our business. Today Manildra Group is the nation’s largest buyer of wheat for processing in Australia, partnering with wheat farmers to strengthen rural communities and farm-to-plate relationships. Today we employ more than 1,000 people with our world-class manufacturing sites pillars of employment, economic stability and community pride throughout many rural Australian towns.

For seven decades, Manildra Group has been at the forefront of sustainability, exceeding industry expectations by pioneering world-first sustainable practices and technologies and further adding-value to our manufacturing operations.

With sustainability central to our zero-waste manufacturing process at our flagship wheat starch and gluten manufacturing site in Bomaderry, Manildra Group joined the “Cool Soil Initiative” in 2020. A true partnership of like-minded academics and businesses – working together to deliver real, long-term positive impacts for farmers and wider grains industry.

The Cool Soil Initiative provides opportunities to advance and integrate sustainability practices on-farm, increases productivity and efficiencies for farmers, whilst making a real meaningful difference to the environment. Manildra Group is proud to be involved with the Cool Soil Initiative, supporting wheat farming families to enhance sustainable practices and procedures, whilst providing opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

With a staunch commitment to upholding sustainability practices, the Cool Soil Initiative integrates positive sustainable practices in Manildra Group’s grain-based supply chain including at the farm gate. The program provides opportunities for farmers to trial new soil health practices, from increasing soil organic matter and yields with nutrient management to enhancing water efficiencies – delivering real, long term positive impacts to the farming system.
