Careers and Skills Hub

The Careers and Skills Hub is Charles Sturt’s career service.

Each day the Careers and Skills Hub team meet with a wide variety of Charles Sturt students to help them develop the skills they need to take the next step in their career.

With the support of SSAF funds the team provides one-on-one appointments, workshops, programs and online resources.

They help students learn:

  • job-search strategies and application skills including how to write a CV and selection criteria
  • how to prepare for interviews
  • how to plan their careers
  • a wide variety of employability skills
  • and much more.

SSAF funds have made the following Careers and Skills Hub projects possible in 2024.

Careers Portal

The Career Portal gives students 24/7 access to high-quality career resources and tools such as a sophisticated student jobs board, instant CV and interview feedback, employability assessments and online learning plans supported by a range of interactive resources.

Strive

Strive is a student leadership program available to all Charles Sturt students. There are 20 self-guided modules to choose from. Completion of 10 modules leads to a non-award leadership certificate from the university.

Earn As You Learn

Through the Earn As You Learn program students can access one-on-one support to find and successfully apply for work while they are studying.

Mentoring

The Careers and Skills Hub team facilitate four student mentoring programs:

  • Uni Foundations: supports new students to adjust to life as a university students.
  • Uni Connections: helps to connect students to the Charles Sturt community.
  • Connecting to Industry: assists students to successfully transition into the workforce.
  • Reach P2P HDR program: get feedback and support across the first 12 months of your HDR candidature.
