MHFA courses actively reduce stigma in your community, by providing students resources to respond appropriately to myths and misunderstandings about mental illness.
Mental Health First Aid courses are offered at Charles Sturt University as blended online learning modules with MHFA Australia.
There has been some funding provided by Australian Council of Deans to fully fund the MHFA course for students who are enrolled with CSU studying Allied Health and Nursing.
All other courses (eg MHFA Tertiary) are currently $100. Both the Health Professional and Tertiary Courses meet any work placement requirements.
The Blended online Health Professional Student courses includes two components.
The first component comprises eLearning which is to be completed online via registration to MHFA Australia. You can email mhfa@csu.edu.au for the link to register and complete eLearning or this may be available from your Allied Health Subject Conveynor.
The second component involves attendance at two 2.5 hour workshops presented online via zoom or 1 x four hour workshop with one of our Charles Sturt staff, trained as a Mental Health First Aid Instructors.
For some courses, it is mandatory to complete both components of the MHFA certificate. Please refer to your individual subject requirements. For non mandatory requirements, students may only wish to complete the eLearning and not attend a workshop.
Once you have fully completed your eLearning and received the certificate, you can book into a workshop to complete the full accreditation with MHFA Australia valid for three years. You can book in through the workshops and events page and select 'Health & Wellbeing' to refine your search. When booking, you must provide a screenshot of your certificate of completion to complete your booking.
If there are no workshops displayed or workshops are full and you would like to be on our waiting list, please email mhfa@csu.edu.au for this and all other enquiries for MHFA courses and enrolments.
Once you have received your booking notification, please mark this date in your calendar. The free courses fill very quickly and we may not be able to swap you into another date for some time.
