New Columbo Plan Mobility Grant

The NCP Mobility Program provides funding to Australian universities to support Australian undergraduate students’ participation in study, internships, mentorships, practicums and research in 40 host locations across the Indo-Pacific region. Charles Sturt University applies each year to support specific mobility projects.

Funding is available for a range of:

  • faculty-led group programs
  • exchange programs (1 or 2 sessions)
  • short-term partner programs
  • work integrated learning programs.

NCP grants are valued from $3,000 for short-term programs, up to $20,000 for year-long programs. The funding is intended to contribute to the cost of your international travel and in-country living expenses.

Refer to the Financial Information tab of each program listed on the Charles Sturt Global website to find out if there are NCP grants available.

If you wish to apply for an NCP mobility grant you must meet the following criteria:

  • be enrolled in an on-shore campus of an Australian university for the duration of the mobility project
  • be undertaking a bachelor degree, bachelor honours degree or concurrent diploma.
  • not be an employee of the branch of DFAT that administers the NCP
  • do not during the course of your bachelor degree or bachelor honours degree:
    • receive more than two student grants total or
    • receive a student grant under both a semester grant and a short-term grant for the same mobility project or for the same period of travel outside of Australia.
  • be aware of the requirement to comply with DFAT’s Child Protection Policy 2017 and Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment Policy 2019 including the reporting obligations under these policies.
  • be between 18 and 28* years of age at the commencement of the mobility program (*Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students do not need to be aged between 18 and 28.) Students who are outside this age bracket can still apply but limited places are available.
