Want a short burst of international experience relevant to your degree? Looking for something to do on your break that is part of your subject? Take a look at this program, run by Charles Sturt University exchange partner Dongguk University.

Dongguk is located in the heart of Seoul, in the middle of the city but surrounded in a natural and peaceful setting. Over the past 117 years since its foundation, Dongguk University has been active in religious, political, social and cultural fields.

Through its 2024 Summer School you'll have the options to learn about Korean Media, Culture, Business, Humanities or Social Sciences; study fields that Dongguk University is renowned for. This program will also be enriched with cultural activities to teach you about the historical & social backgrounds of Korea beyond the boundary of the classroom.

Session 1 - June 22, 2024 to July 6, 2024

Session 2  - July 6, 2024 to July 20, 2024

When looking into options, consider your study requirements here in Australia for example, session dates, intensive schools, the examination period.

Be sure to discuss your plans with your Course Director, just to ensure you will not be at risk of missing any important dates.

There are 5 x Destination Australia Cheung Kong Exchange Program Scholarships of AUD$2,000 available for eligible students.

Additional details

Application Fee KRW100,000, to be charged only once.

Charles Sturt University students may receive a 50% discount off the tuition fee.

Cultural activities are an extra KRW2000,00 per session. This entitles you to 4 activities per session.

Activities may include  NANTA Performance, Watching Baseball Game, K-pop Dance Experience, Han River Cruise, Lotte World Tour, Taekwondo Experience, Traditional Market Tour, Temple Culture Experience.

Program costs include

Pre-departure

All participants will be required to complete mandatory pre-departure requirements. This includes the provision and completion of the following

  • Flight Itinerary*:   submit a copy of your E-ticket.
  • Travel Insurance*:  ensure you have the appropriate medical and travel insurance from the day you leave Australia until the day you return.  You must submit a copy of your certificate of insurance and your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). At a minimum your insurance must include:
    • Medical Expenses $500,000
    • Repatriation Expenses $15,000
    • Personal Liability $1,000,000
    • 24hr Emergency Assistance Included
    • COVID 19 cover
  • Passport:  submit a copy of the photo page of your passport.
  • Pre-departure modules: We will register you for online pre-departure training once your application is approved.
  • Registration with World Travel Assist: You will need to download the Travel Assist V2 by WTP app from Apple App store or Android App. The app provides immediate access to 24-hour emergency medical assistance (in the event that your own insurer is unavailable), security alerts and detailed country reports.

In addition to the above requirements your provider may host a number of online predeparture meetings that you will be expected to attend.

Learning about so many different cultures and meeting such a different group of people is something you can’t experience in classrooms here. Everyone was there for the same reasons; a love of learning, love of travel and curiosity. These things bound us all together.
