University of Limerick 2025 International Summer School Programme

The University of Limerick offers an international Summer School that will  provide you with an opportunity to join students from all corners of the globe in experiencing Irish university life and the rich Irish culture.

The  three week summer school allows students to select a module to study from a selection of  thoughtfully crafted modules designed to inspire your curiosity and passion. Experience an engaging and interactive curriculum that promises an unforgettable journey, complemented by exciting excursions and daily events organized by fellow University of Limerick students. The full list of the 7-modules available are here.

Program overview

Students will participate in a tailored orientation program that will provide you with information on what you need to know about being a student in the University of Limerick.  You will be housed on campus, immersed with other international students in one of the eight purpose-built student villages.

Students will have the opportunity to experience cultural and historical excursions as well as participate in daily evening events organised and ran by  designated University of Limerick student guides.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided Monday to Friday (excluding the bank holiday and the day of departure). 

Airport transfers from Shannon Airport to campus will be provided. Students be greeted and accompanied by University of Limerick student guides.

An academic transcript at the completion of the summer school will be sent to Charles Sturt University.

Applications should be made directly with the University of Limerick.

Academic Recognition

You may need to have unspecified elective as a part of your course to receive academic credit - ensure you discuss with your Course Director prior to applying.  Your Course Director can provide advice on academic recognition you could receive after successfully completing the Summer Program.

Please note:  The Program coincides with Charles Sturt University's Session 1.

Funding

Students may be eligible to apply for a Vice-Chancellor Travel Grant of $400.

If you’re studying in a Commonwealth supported place and you undertake this program you may be eligible for OS-HELP.

Pre-departure

All participants will be required to complete mandatory pre-departure requirements. This includes the provision and completion of the following

  • Flight Itinerary*:  submit a copy of your E-ticket .
  • Travel Insurance*:  ensure you have the appropriate medical and travel insurance from the day you leave Australia until the day you return.  You must submit a copy of your certificate of insurance and your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). At a minimum your insurance must include:
    • Medical Expenses $500,000
    • Repatriation Expenses $15,000
    • Personal Liability $1,000,000
    • 24hr Emergency Assistance Included
    • COVID 19 cover
  • Passport:  submit a copy of the photo page of your passport
  • Pre-departure modules: You will be registered for online pre-departure training once we approve your application
  • Registration with World Travel Assist: The app provides immediate access to 24-hour emergency medical assistance (in the event that your own insurer is unavailable), security alerts and detailed country reports.
  • Student Declaration form: This will be provided to you by Charles Sturt Global.

Learning about so many different cultures and meeting such a different group of people is something you can’t experience in classrooms here. Everyone was there for the same reasons; a love of learning, love of travel and curiosity. These things bound us all together.
