The Sports Team of the Year Award acknowledges and celebrates the outstanding achievements and exceptional sportspersonship of a team from an affiliated Charles Sturt Sports club or a Charles Sturt representative team. This award recognises their remarkable sporting accomplishments and their embodiment of sportsmanship and team spirit.
This award reflects the collective efforts, unity, and dedication demonstrated by the team throughout their sporting season or representative events. It recognises not only their achievements on the field but also their exemplary conduct as representatives of Charles Sturt University.
Criteria for nomination and selection include:
- Sporting Achievements: Achieved remarkable success, performance and teamwork in their chosen sport. This can include winning championships, tournaments, leagues, or placing prominently in competitive events.
- Sportspersonship: exemplified the highest standards of sportspersonship and demonstrated respect for opponents, officials, and the rules of the game while upholding the values of sportspersonship both on and off the field.
- Teamwork and Unity: Displayed exceptional teamwork and showcased their ability to work cohesively as a team.
- Leadership and Role Modelling: Displayed exemplary leadership qualities, inspiring and guiding their teammates to achieve success both on and off the field and served as positive role models within the Charles Sturt University community.
- Representing Charles Sturt University: If the team is a Charles Sturt representative team participating in events such as Uni Nationals, their representation of the university and their conduct during these events should be considered. Their ability to represent the university with pride, professionalism, and a positive sporting spirit is important.
