Sports Volunteer of the Year

The Sports Volunteer of the Year award acknowledges the exceptional efforts and leadership of an individual volunteer who has dedicated their time and skills to the success and development of a sports club or the Charles Sturt University sporting community. By exemplifying selflessness, leadership, and a passion for fostering a vibrant sporting environment, the recipient of this award inspires others and plays a crucial role in the growth and success of the sporting community at Charles Sturt University.

Prize: $500

Criteria for nomination and selection include:

  • Enrolled Student at Charles Sturt University: The nominee must be an enrolled student at Charles Sturt University, actively working towards a degree or diploma during the eligibility period for the award.
  • Contribution to the Charles Sturt Community: The nominee should have made a significant contribution to the club's engagement in and contribution to the Charles Sturt University community. This can include initiatives, events, or programs that promote participation, inclusivity, and positive interactions within the university community.
  • Enhancement of the Off-Field Culture: The nominee should have played a key role in enhancing the off-field culture of the sports club or community. This can involve fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, promoting team bonding and camaraderie, and organising social or community-building activities.
  • Improvement in Club Performance and Activities: The nominee should have made a significant and measurable impact on the general performance and activities of the sports club or community. This can include implementing initiatives that enhance the club's competitiveness, organisational efficiency, and overall development.
  • Compliance with Affiliation Requirements: If a club committee member, the nominee should have fulfilled the affiliation requirements set out by their Charles Sturt University sporting club or external sporting club, specific to their volunteer role. This ensures they have met the necessary standards and obligations to uphold the values and policies of the university and the sports club.
  • Extended Period of Contribution: The nominee should have contributed to the sports club or community for an extended period of time, showcasing their long-term commitment and dedication to the success and growth of the club.
