Sportsperson of the Year

Awarded to a student-athlete in recognition of their outstanding achievements in both their performance and contribution to university sport, through representative selection via a University Club or Uni Nationals results.

Prize: $500

Criteria for nomination and selection include:

  • Enrolled Student at Charles Sturt University: The nominee must be an enrolled student at Charles Sturt University, actively working towards a degree or diploma during the eligibility period for the award.
  • Outstanding Sporting Record: The nominee should have an exceptional sporting record in the current year, demonstrating remarkable achievements and success in their chosen sport. This can include individual accomplishments, team victories, records broken, championships won, or notable performances at regional, national, or international levels.
  • Representation at Uni Nationals Event/s: The nominee should have represented Charles Sturt University at a Uni Nationals event in the current year. Their participation and performance at these prestigious events demonstrate their dedication, skill, and ability to compete at a high level, representing both themselves and the university with excellence
  • Outstanding Sportsmanship: The nominee should exemplify outstanding sportsmanship, displaying fairness, integrity, respect, and ethical conduct both on and off the field. Their behavior and attitude should reflect the values and principles that Charles Sturt University stands for, making them an exemplary role model for other student-athletes.
  • Pride in Charles Sturt Identity:The nominee should be a person with whom Charles Sturt University is proud to be identified. They should embody the spirit of Charles Sturt, representing the university with dignity, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Their conduct should positively reflect the university's values, fostering a sense of pride and connection within the Charles Sturt community.
  • Support for Sport on Campus: The nominee's support for sport on campus will be considered to differentiate between candidates with similar performance achievements. This can include active involvement in promoting sport and physical activity within the university, participating in campus sporting events or programs, or contributing to the development and growth of the sporting community at Charles Sturt University.
