Commonly asked questions

Work to implement the plan’s vision will happen gradually, in line with our financial resources. This will minimise disruption to campus operations. There won't be any major disruptions or changes to campus life in the near future.

Development of the CMP was guided by a 22-member working group representing a range of interests across the university's functions. The process followed a rigorous program of inquiry and consultation, including eight site visits and 107 consultation sessions to gather insights from staff, students, and community members. The final plan reflects genuine engagement with our key stakeholders and is driven by their vision for the campus.

The campus’s current scale and dispersed facilities no longer align with modern delivery models. The plan provides a framework to guide the strategic consolidation and development of the campus to reduce costs while creating more vibrancy.

Having a clear, long-term vision allows us to prioritise and allocate our limited resources effectively, supporting both the campus and the broader university’s sustainability and growth. This plan serves as a valuable decision-making tool to guide campus investments and operations, helping us identify and respond to opportunities, attract partnerships, and scale up the implementation of the plan as our resources expand.

The plan is designed to be flexible and adaptable to our financial realities and changes within the sector. We will pursue a phased approach, prioritising projects based on their alignment with the plan’s key strategic directions, such as creating a vibrant Northern Hub. The plan will guide where we invest in estate projects and operational decisions, with implementation paced according to our financial capacity. Additionally, we will explore opportunities through industry and commercial partnerships to support key initiatives.

The plan focuses on creating a consolidated, vibrant campus environment that respects the campus’s cultural and environmental heritage, enhances the experiences of students, staff and community, supports the university's teaching and research needs, and builds community engagement and commercial partnerships.

The most significant change will be bringing features currently spread across the campus into a central area called the Northern Hub.Elevating campus vibrancy is the number one priority for Wagga Wagga campus, as identified by students and staff, and the creation of the Northern Hub is a central component of the CMP to achieve this goal.

The Campus Master Plan is designed to position our university for long-term success. The plan enables strategic consolidation, cost savings, and enhanced campus vibrancy while positioning the university to better serve future teaching and research needs and community partnerships.

By investing in infrastructure, technology, and academic programs, we can enhance our reputation, attract top talent, and provide a better experience for our students and staff. This proactive approach will help us stay competitive in the higher education landscape and ensure that we are meeting the evolving needs of our community.

The plan was developed through extensive consultation and is designed to be implemented gradually as resources allow, with regular reviews to ensure adaptability.

The detailed master plan will be a key resource for campus development in Wagga Wagga, guiding decisions by the university’s leadership and infrastructure and facilities team. Opportunities for broader staff involvement will occur as specific activities from the plan begin to take shape.

As with any long-term plan, there are risks involved, including financial uncertainties and changing market conditions. The plan takes these risks into account and has the flexibility to adapt to changing needs and circumstances. Implementation will be gradual, with activities progressing as our financial capacity allows. By maintaining flexibility and regularly reviewing our progress, we can adapt to challenges, respond to new opportunities, and ensure that we are making informed decisions.

The Bathurst Campus Master Plan is currently in development and expected to be completed in mid 2025.
