Academic Integrity subject

As a Charles Sturt student, completing the Academic Integrity subject will introduce you to the principles of academic integrity and guide you in effectively navigating the challenges you may encounter during your academic journey.

Completing this subject will equip you with the knowledge to recognise and avoid plagiarism, cheating, contract cheating and collusion, helping you steer clear of the consequences associated with these practices. Find out more about Academic Integrity.

This subject will also help you to:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the University's Academic Integrity Policy.
  • Apply the principles of honesty, fairness and responsibility to your studies.
  • Learn about the support services available to assist you in meeting your academic responsibilities.

If you don’t complete the compulsory Academic Integrity subject by the end of the session, your grades will not be visible to you.

How to complete the subject

  1. Work through the Academic Integrity subject in Brightspace or Interact2.
  2. Complete five short quizzes to demonstrate your understanding. You will need to score 80% on each quiz to demonstrate your competence.

The subject takes about 1.5 hours to complete. You do not need to complete it all at once.

In most cases, you only need to complete this subject once. However, if you receive a finding of academic misconduct, you may be required to repeat the subject.

During this transition period for Interact2 to Brightspace, students can complete the Academic Integrity subject in either platform.

You only need to complete the subject once. i.e. If you have already completed the subject in Interact2, you do not need to complete the subject in Brightspace. Or vice versa.

Once you complete the subject

Once you complete the Academic Integrity subject, it is noted on your student record.

You can also check if you've completed the subject from the 'Non-course subjects' section of your Student Portal dashboard (shown with a green tick if complete, as per the image below).

If the subject is complete, the green tick shows next to a subject called AI-Academic-Integrity in your list of subjects.

Do you have two student records?

Some of our students have two active student IDs, as they may have completed a different course previously or are studying in concurrent sessions.

If you have two active student IDs (an A and B ID) you only need to complete this subject once. You are only enrolled in the Academic Integrity Subject once under your A ID.

When you complete the Academic Integrity subject, the grade hold will be removed from both A and B IDs.

If you've completed the Academic Integrity subject since late February 2020, you will not need to complete it again.

If you completed a previous version of the subject before late February 2020, you will need to complete the new version. The new version will help you to learn the importance of maintaining ethical standards in your academic and professional work.
