BDSc, BClSc Univ CSU Dr Amika Garcia is a Dentist at the Charles Sturt University Dental and Oral Health Clinic in Orange, where she provides quality care to her patients while guiding aspiring dental professionals. Her journey in dentistry began with two degree qualifications from Charles Sturt University: A Bachelor of Clinical Science, followed by a Bachelor of Dental Science which she completed in 2018. Before joining the university, Dr Garcia gained experience in both the public and private sectors. As a private practitioner in the Orange community, she had the opportunity to provide general dental care to her patients. Additionally, her role as the Senior Dentist at the Orange Aboriginal Medical Service (OAMS) allowed her to contribute to addressing oral health disparities. At OAMS, Dr Garcia played a role in revitalizing the Oral Health delivery model and implementing an Oral Health Prevention Program, focusing on providing services to neighbouring communities and schools. In 2021, Dr Garcia had the opportunity to share her insights at the Closing the Gap on Indigenous Health Conference, where she spoke on the connection between nutrition and oral health and the changes to service delivery at OAMS. Driven by a desire to serve her community, Dr Garcia continues to support the Orange Aboriginal community by providing clinical supervision for students at OAMS. Through her professional journey, Dr Garcia has developed a passion for removable prosthodontics. Currently pursuing her Masters in Philosophy-Research in Removable Prosthodontics at Charles Sturt University, she approaches her studies with dedication and a desire to deepen her knowledge in the field.
