Dr Sherene Alexander is a board registered specialist paediatric dentist.
In her specialist career spanning over twenty years, her areas of specializations have included managing the special child, paediatric oral pathology, pediatric minor oral surgery and dental trauma.
Sherene is a Senior Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at Westmead Hospital and Sydney dental hospital. She holds academic appointments as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Charles Sturt University, and Clinical Senior Lecturer appointment with The University of Sydney. Prior to her position at Westmead, she has worked at TUFTS University, Boston ; Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne and as a Regional Dental Officer for Dental Health Services (DHSV), Victoria.
Besides being actively involved in the training of post graduate students , she also provides ‘out of hours’ emergency care at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and is a visiting specialist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
Sherene is currently the President of ANZSPD( NSW Branch) and is one of the few specialists who has devoted her time in providing paediatric dental care to patients in remote and regional NSW for well over 16 years. In her specialist career spanning over twenty years, her areas of specializations have included managing the child with additional needs, paediatric oral pathology and dental trauma. She has published widely in several international peer reviewed journals, including co-authoring a chapter in the ‘Handbook of Paediatric Dentistry’.
Professional Affiliations : Australian dental Council examinership, Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS), Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry (ANZSPD),Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (AAPD),International College of Dentists (ICD).
On a different note, she has an avid interest in woodwork and currently enjoys long distance running, photography and recently golf.
