Dr Bassett oversees the Office of Academic Quality and Standards and is a direct report of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). He is responsible for the attainment and maintenance of academic quality and standards at the University, and the provision of leadership to support academic quality, compliance monitoring, curriculum management, academic misconduct and integrity, and the delivery of quality education outcomes and student experience.

Dr Bassett has more than 17 years of international higher education leadership and lecturing experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Australian, US, UK, and UAE Higher Education systems. He is an internationally recognised expert on technical ear training, an award-winning EdTech developer, and a full member of the Audio Engineering Society where he previously served on the Education Committee.
