Guidance notes: Principle 7 Single Degree Course Structure
Principles
7.1 Single degree courses will have the following structure:
7.1.1 Essential set.
7.1.2 Elective set.
Rationale/Policy link
7.1.1 The term “Essential” was adopted to differentiate the course component from the core subject set, as this subject set also includes restricted electives and majors, minors and specialisations that must be completed by students. Use of the term “core subject” at Charles Sturt is standard practice, so it was felt preferable to rename the course component set rather than the type of subjects.
7.1.2 The term “Elective” was chosen to reflect the potential components of this set, drawn from restricted electives, unrestricted electives and majors, minors and specialisations.
