Student support quick guide

The university offers a range of support services to our students. We’ve created you this quick guide to help you steer students in the right direction.

General enquiries

Student Central

All general enquiries go through Student Central. Students can chat through Student Portal, call, drop in or email. Due to the high volume of enquiries students are encouraged to search the frequently asked questions (Ask Charles Sturt) before contacting the team.

Learning and study skills

Depending on their specific needs there are areas at the uni that can support students to develop their study skills.

Academic Skills team

To develop their literacy, numeracy, learning, and digital skills, students can book a 1:1 appointment with an Academic Skills Adviser, access self-paced resources and get feedback on ways to improve the writing in assessment drafts.

Library team

The library can support student with their research needs, finding reading lists and using endnote. They also run a range of modules on getting started at the Library.

Workshops

Workshops are run all year round on a range of topics. Groups are kept small so class sizes are intimate and students can ask questions.

StudyLink

Also known as bridging courses at other uni’s, if a student doesn’t feel confident in their prior knowledge they can enrol in a free subject to improve their foundational skills prior to completing a subject.

Careers

We have a team called the Careers and Skills team. Students can;

  • upload your resume to CV360 and see how it scores.
  • practice job interviews
  • get or become a mentor
  • join (STRIVE) our leadership program.
  • or book a 1:1 appointment with a careers adviser

Safety and wellbeing

For emergencies call 000 (fire, police, ambulance), then call campus security

Campus security

Your safety and security of staff, students and visitors to our campuses is paramount at all times. We work to ensure your safety through on-campus staff, mobile patrols, 24/7 emergency response and static guarding.

Counselling

Students can access friendly, qualified and approachable social workers and psychologists. They've been through university and know what it's like to get the work/life balance right.

Accessibility and Inclusion Support

Students can register for help or contact the team to manage their study with a physical or sensory impairment, learning disability, mental health or medical condition. If you have a temporary condition you may also be eligible for support.
