Week minus 4

It's time to start setting up your subject sites.

Disclaimer: subject preparation processes within and across Faculties/Schools can vary; the below pages are to be used as a guide only. In the first instance, refer to directives from Faculty and your School especially in relation to due dates.

Task 1

Subject Outline: Clone Master (multiple cohorts subjects only)

Master Subject Outlines are used when the same subject is being taught to multiple cohorts. For example, if the same subject is being taught at Bathurst, Wagga Wagga and Online then each is a different cohort and each has their own Subject Outline.

If you're not teaching multiple cohorts you can skip this task.

  • Before you start cloning it's important that you have completed the QA process for the Master Outline (see last week for details).
  • Clone the Master Subject Outline for each cohort.
  • Update the details and prepare for the QA process for each cloned outline.
  • QA Officer ensures consistency and approves all remaining subject outlines to await publishing two weeks before the start of session.
  • Use the Set Publication Date (Date Picker) to select your preferred publication date if you require your outline to be available earlier.

Review content and activities for currency

  • Review learning activities and consider subject currency, constructive alignment and copyright compliance.  Check all interactive activities display correctly. Provide context for learning resources, eg tasks is essential/recommended and their link to content or assessment.
  • Check all links within content and update out of date or broken links. Consider copyright compliance and currency.  A 2008 link may work  but is the content still relevant?

Set up/check LMS tools

Assessment area left navigation (if applicable)

  • Ensure information is accurate and updated for the current session

Task 3

Learning support: request additional subject support (Optional)

  • Request an Embedded Librarian and/or Academic Skills to host an information session relevant to the skills needed in the subject.
  • Find experts that specialise in the individual needs of students with a disability, from overseas, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage, elite athletes and students studying a Research degree. Assistive Technology support is also available.
For support with your subject, please log a DLT service request.
