The Teaching Academy was designed in response to the academic community's needs as learning and teaching staff at Charles Sturt. It draws upon an inclusive and sustainable approach and will support, acknowledge, and advance education at Charles Sturt into the future.
It will support our institution to be a university that recognises, rewards, and values excellent teaching, with increased scholarly activity leading to greater research grant success and National and International Teaching Awards. The Academy is committed to adopting the university's values, standards, and principles as guiding values for our practice.
Join our Teaching Academy MS Team
The Teaching Academy is based on a hub and spoke with centralised support in the Division of Learning and Teaching. The Sub Dean (Academic Development) is the Director of the Academy and has a small team to coordinate and drive the objectives of the Academy. Teaching Academy Leads based in Schools will support the academy's activities within their school and help ensure the nuanced needs of the staff within schools are catered for within the Academy's operations. The Teaching Academy Advisory Group governs the activity.
The Academy will work collaboratively with strategic partners across the university, ensuring the academy's plans and strategies are aligned, supporting and leveraging other activities, processes, and systems within the university. This will ensure the Academy is fully embedded and supports and elevates our everyday work.
Strategically aligned communities of practice will be established and supported through the Academy. They will be a key activity that drives overall improvement in academic quality and elevates our staff's careers.
Our learning and teaching conference will be another key activity of the Teaching Academy. CSEdX provides a forum for sharing practice and fostering innovation in learning and teaching.
