Scholarly activity framework

Engaging in scholarly activities ensures that you're able to improve and broaden your knowledge.

You can also integrate this knowledge within (and sometimes across) disciplines so that it's incorporated into your teaching and learning practice and/or research.

The following Scholarly Activity Framework has been modified from the Psychology Board of Australia Professional development framework.

The Framework involves 6 steps that happen in a circular pattern: performance development, starting activities, undertake and reflect, log evidence, review activities and develop a new learning plan.

Being responsible for your performance development

This Framework emphasises personal responsibility within a supportive professional development environment. A process of self-assessment that is already built in to the professional development system (EDRS system for Charles Sturt staff or 'My Development' for SG staff) forms the basis of developing goals to evidence scholarly activities.

Within the Scholarly Activity Framework, academic staff are responsible for developing and maintaining evidence of scholarly activities during the 12-month cycle. Evidence of engagement with scholarly activity ensures positive outcomes for staff, enabling them to further share knowledge and skills with their peers.

Steps to complete your activities

On the planning, collecting, and reporting page, you can find detailed steps on how to complete each activity in the Framework.
