- Charles Sturt Campus Services Limited named Outstanding Employer of Choice
- Award was given at the NSW Business Chamber Murray-Riverina Business Awards
- Campus Services Limited will progress to state finals on Friday 22 November
Charles Sturt University (Charles Sturt) Campus Services Limited has been recognised as an outstanding employer by the NSW Business Chamber.
Campus Services was recently crowned Outstanding Employer of Choice at the Business Australia (formerly, the NSW Business Chamber) Murray-Riverina Business Awards last month at the Temora Aviation Museum.
General manager of Charles Sturt Campus Services Limited Mr Martin Dooner said the decision to apply for the regional awards was bolstered by their award win earlier this year.
In July, Campus Services Limited was awarded for Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety at the Golden Crow Awards in Wagga Wagga.
Mr Dooner said due to the strong competition at the Murray-Riverina Business Awards, the award win came as a welcomed surprise.
“It was clear the competition for the award was very strong and we weren’t sure who was going to win.
“But when they announced we were the winners, it was a terrific surprise and we are honoured to receive the award,” he said.
In the application for the award, Mr Dooner focused on the University’s culture of diversity and respect, the University’s relationship with local suppliers and supporting students with employment and scholarships.
He believes being a good employer involves listening to staff and ensuring the workplace is welcoming.
“It is about embracing every part of culture and taking time to listen and understand your employees, getting people to realise you care and it’s a safe environment to work,” he said.
