Review of Mark (ROM) and Grade (ROG): Process improvement initiative | This initiative seeks to enhance the clarity, efficiency, and fairness of the ROM and ROG processes for staff and students. The Office of Academic Quality and Standards is engaging with stakeholders to map workflows, gather staff insights, and identify initial opportunities for improvement. Next steps include engaging the Student Senate to incorporate student perspectives and sharing insights and potential improvements with stakeholders in early 2025. | Hayley Farrer (Academic Quality Officer)
Course structure and Enrolment Patterns | In 2024, the OAQS Course Accreditation team worked with Faculty Course Teams to align course structures with the Curriculum Architecture Principles and adapt them for CDAP functionalities. This involved transitioning a text format to a node-based architecture, requiring greater standardisation and consistency. While most courses benefited, ongoing refinement is needed. CDAP also introduced Study Plans, a new template for enrolment patterns, replacing varied text documents. This promotes streamlined, less complex patterns and adherence to standard teaching period terms. These updates enhance course maintenance and student experience by making course information more transparent and manageable, reducing complexity, and ensuring alignment with institutional policies. | James Ellibank Murray (Manager, Course and Subject Accreditation)
Inherent Requirements | Inherent Requirements define the essential skills, knowledge, and attributes students need to achieve course learning outcomes while maintaining academic and professional standards. To ensure clarity and consistency, the Office of Academic Quality and Standards (OAQS) reviewed and redefined Inherent Requirements statements by benchmarking sector practices and consulting with stakeholders. This work led to the development of a comprehensive guide to assist in reviewing and creating course-specific Inherent Requirements statements. OAQS continues to support Course Directors and their nominees in understanding and implementing Inherent Requirements, ensuring they align with course needs and support student success. | Sheeja Samuel (Academic Lead, Learning and Teaching Quality)
