Professor John Carroll Memorial Fund
Professor John Carroll was an extraordinary educator with a long and distinguished tenure at Charles Sturt University. His creativity, professionalism, vigour and knowledge had a significant impact on drama education around the world. "John Carroll was a twenty first century renaissance man: passionate, informed, witty and ahead of the curve." Bill Blaikie
The $2,000 John Carroll Memorial Scholarship will be provided annually to assist a second-year recipient with the costs associated with their education. This will allow a Charles Sturt student to devote due diligence to their studies and realise their dream for a career in Theatre Media.
Selection will be based on the student’s demonstrated sustained commitment to their studies and whose efforts best reflect Professor Carroll’s passion and scholarship for drama in education and performance with and for young people.
The appeal is ongoing and to help us maintain and increase the value of the scholarship and expand financial coverage to other areas of support, we need your help.
When our goal is reached, a $15,000 research grant will be established to provide an opportunity for a student to undertake Honours or a PhD, continuing the passion for research championed by Professor Carroll who was a winner of the Faculty of Arts Excellence Award for Research Supervision.
This grant will allow students to further their studies and continue the legacy of one of the foremost theorists / researchers and practitioners of drama in education.
With your help we will ensure John’s legacy continues through the work and creativity of new Australian artists.
Fund Goal $50,000
