CSU Refugee and Asylum Seeker Scholarships
For the first time in 2017, CSU provided new scholarships, in the form of three full tuition waivers, aimed at transforming the lives of asylum seekers and refugees through higher education.
The scholarships are for people on temporary or permanent humanitarian visas and are designed to provide assistance to students seeking a better, safer future for themselves and their families. CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann said, “These scholarships offer life-changing opportunities and enable refugees to experience higher education in regional Australia. They are a great example of the University living its ethos drawn from the Wiradjuri expression, Yindyamarra Winhanganha, ‘the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in’, and ensure that a person’s ability to attend university is not determined by their financial situation nor background.”
When I arrived in Wagga Wagga and realised I’m actually at uni, I wanted to cry because it’s just a dream come true... This scholarship is life changing.
