PhD in Computer and Information Science
Dr. Michael Bewong is a researcher in the fields of data science and cybersecurity. After earning his PhD in Computer and Information Science from the University of South Australia in 2018, he embarked on a notable career path within the academic sphere. He has served as both a course coordinator and research fellow at the University of South Australia. Further enriching his professional journey, Michael held the position of research fellow for the Data to Decision CRC.
He currently imparts his knowledge as a Senior Lecturer in Computing at the School of Computing, Mathematics and Engineering. Michael has a keen interest in areas such as privacy-preserving data sharing, detection of mis/dis-information on social media platforms, and knowledge discovery from unstructured data sources. His expertise also encompasses graph theory applications in various data forms and the integration of data science and AI in the realms of agriculture and cybersecurity.
Recognizing his dedication to higher education, Michael has been honoured as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In September 2023, his relentless pursuit of research excellence led him to join the AI and Cyber Futures Institute as a Research Acceleration Fellow, further solidifying his commitment to driving advancements in his field.
