Writing industry grants

Industry grants vary widely depending on the actual discipline and field.

Many will have their own requirements and specifications when it comes to writing a grant application, so it's important to follow their guidelines.

Typically, an industry grant will require the same type of information as other types of grants:

  • Background
  • Aims
  • Methodology
  • Deliverables
  • Timeline
  • Personnel
  • Budget
  • Outcomes
  • Evaluation

If the funder doesn't provide a template or format for a grant, then you can use the above points as a guideline. Alternatively, Charles Sturt Research has an  Charles Sturt project proposal template which can be used for industry.

When writing a grant application for industry, be careful to avoid University jargon. And when setting out timelines for the industry project, consider using a timeline or Gantt chart.
