Writing the project description

The project description of a grant application is where you explain your project, what you intend to do, and how you intend to do it.

Sometimes, funders will clearly specify what they would like included in a project description, such as the ARC. Other funders may or may not have specific requirements.

A project description may include things like:

  • Project title
  • Abstract or summary
  • Statement of need
  • Project description / methodology
  • Research team members (track record)
  • Outputs and reporting
  • Evaluation plan
  • Risk management plan
  • Budget

It's important to remember that different funders will have different requirements regarding the project description, so always follow their guidelines carefully.
