Fleur is an environmental social scientist with a background in nature conservation extension on private land. She has also taught in diverse areas such as environmental education and interpretation, as well as conservation and ecosystem management. Fleur brings industry experience, having held various advisory roles within local and state governments across North-East Victoria and Southern NSW. Additionally, she has worked closely with Indigenous communities in the education sector, including positions at the Central Land Council and Centralian Senior College in Alice Springs.
Fleur completed her PhD in 2014, focusing on the perceptions and management of shrubby regrowth in Southeastern Australia. Her research interests are rooted in socio-ecological systems within rural and regional areas, with a particular focus on strengthening cultural connections to the landscape and natural environment. By fostering both cultural enrichment and biodiversity outcomes, her work addresses the pressing challenges of climate, demographic, and social changes that impact human-nature relations and environmental management. Fleur is also committed to advancing social and environmental justice for First Nations peoples, actively pursuing collaborative social research in the Murray-Darling Basin.
