Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Animal Genetics at the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga). I graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from India, and later pursued a doctoral degree in Bovine Immunogenomics at the Department of Animal and Poultry Science, University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada). I worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Medical Genetics, University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada) for over two years; and also worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Veterinary Clinical and Animal Sciences, University of Copenhagen (Denmark) for another two years before moving to Australia.

Research
  • Application of targeted and high throughput genetics and genomics (quantitative and molecular) in the study of complex livestock phenotypes.
  • Candidate genes and QTLs influencing susceptibility to mastitis and Johnes disease
  • Application of next generation sequencing based approaches (e.g. RNASeq, microbiome analysis) to study complex disease phenotypes including animal models of human diseases.
