Project summary

This project seeks to minimise the potentially harmful impacts of hydropower projects on the productive fisheries, and the people who depend upon them, in the Lower Mekong Basin. It is focussing on assessing the effectiveness of the fish passage facilities at the Lower Mekong River's first mainstem hydropower dam near Xayaburi, and undertaking baseline fisheries research at the site of the second hydropower dam being constructed near Luang Prabang.
