Translating fish passage research outcomes into policy and legislation across South East Asia

Project Summary

This project (hereafter referred to as the ‘Governance project’) follows on from a program of work undertaken by the IFRG dating back to 2006, which has demonstrated that fishways can mitigate the impacts of irrigation development and also have lasting socio-economic benefits for river communities in South East Asia.

The Governance project is currently being carried out simultaneously in three South East Asian countries (Lao PDR, Cambodia and Indonesia), and involves partnerships between the IFRG and irrigation departments and universities within each country.
