About the committee

The Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) has been established to ensure the respectful use of animals in teaching and research and to ensure compliance with legislation.

If you use animals for scientific purposes the AEC must approve this prior to commencing such use.  The AEC meets monthly to review project applications for research and teaching involving animals. The committee also oversees these activities for the duration of the projects' lives.

The committee is made up of members both internal and external to the University. The committee plays a central function in ensuring the University's ongoing accreditation as an animal research establishment under NSW Government legislation.

Meeting dates

All committee meetings are held on Thursdays between 12:00pm - 5:00pm via videoconference.
