Baselining Drought

The Baselining Drought: Developing a baseline understanding of farmer and community perceptions of drought report establishes a shared understanding of what constitutes drought across southern and central New South Wales, and what that means for the communities and producers of the region.

The insights in the report form a basis for assessing the changes required, barriers to overcome, and potential opportunities to improve drought resilience.

The Baselining Drought project was run between June and December 2022 and information was collected from 260 stakeholders across the Hub's geographic footprint. The findings in this report are presented as key themes organised by:

  • Impacts on farm business
  • Impacts on rural communities
  • Impacts on the Indigenous community
  • Impacts on the environment
