Growing up on a farm near Junee, NSW, the eldest of seven children, David Heffernan now resides in Berry on the beautiful NSW South Coast.
Graduating from Charles Sturt’s Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2001, David completed internships in two Wagga Wagga Pharmacies in 2002 before commencing work at the Culburra Pharmacy, Culburra Beach in 2003, where he is now proprietor.
A strong advocate of the vital role pharmacists play in rural and remote communities, David believes the Charles Sturt Pharmacy Foundation is in a prime position to champion Charles Sturt Pharmacy in the community and link the University, academics and students to the various stakeholders, industry leaders and innovations within the profession.
David is currently undertaking a Masters in Politics and Public Policy at Macquarie University and has a keen interest in Community Pharmacy transformation, politics, education and the community in general. Pharmacy Guild NSW Branch, South Coast Zone Leader 2006-present and Pharmacy Guild NSW Branch Committee member September 2014-present, David is married to Ainslie and is a proud father of one child, Callan.
Richard (Dick) Marris has been involved in the Pharmaceutical Industry for more than 30 years. During that time and before joining the industry, while here and overseas, he has endeavoured to ensure small business ventures were successful in all areas of operation. For many years he was a senior employee of F H Faulding and through that association became involved with Charles Sturt and the creation of the Pharmacy School.
Dick currently holds Directorships and was for many years a director of the Australian Institute Pharmacy Management Ltd and chairman of its Finance and Audit Committee. He currently holds a position the position of Chairman on the Charles Sturt Foundation Investment Committee. Dick is past President of a Rotary Club and takes a keen interest in the general community, while continuing to be a strong supporter of pharmacy and its delivery of best health outcomes.
Peter has been an active proprietor of two large Community Pharmacies in Wagga Wagga and has also worked as an Accredited Consultant Pharmacist, as a locum Pharmacist and as an Industry Consultant. He has held executive positions with Amcal Chemists and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and has experience in Health Service administration both as a service provider and as a Board Director.
He is a Past Branch President of the Pharmaceutical Society of NSW, and has served as a Director of the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice Limited.
He is a past Chairman of the Charles Sturt Pharmacy Foundation and a Life Member of the Sydney University Pharmacy Practice Foundation. He is also a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia , a Fellow of the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice and Management, and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Professor Rod Hill was appointed as the Head of School, Biomedical Sciences in September 2014.
Originally from Queensland, and having spent 13 years working in the United States, Rod has a strong record of research, teaching and in building multi-disciplinary programs, having led federally funded multi-investigator awards supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
His expertise crosses diverse disciplines such as physiology and nanotechnology. His network of collaborators includes social scientists, physicists, chemists, materials engineers and others from varied disciplines across the biological sciences and from multiple nations including the UK, Germany, Spain, and China.
As an undergraduate, Rod studied via both internal and distances modes, providing him with a deep understanding of the challenges that face our students.
Chairman of the NSW Pharmaceutical Defence Limited (PDL) Committee and NSW Director to the PDL National Board Mr Paul Mahoney joined the Charles Sturt Pharmacy Foundation Committee in 2008 and brings over 40 years of experience in hospital and community pharmacy.
Dr Heather Robinson joined the School of Biomedical Sciences in 2005 as a Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Science at the Orange Campus. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons I) degree from the University of Sydney (1983) and a PhD (1989) for research conducted within the Pharmacy Department of the University of Sydney, which was an investigation of the in vivo metabolic activation of carcinogenic polycyclic aza-aromatic hydrocarbons.
Heather is a registered pharmacist and has worked in the pharmaceutical industry in product development and regulatory affairs roles. She taught in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney (Orange) prior to the transfer to Charles Sturt. Her teaching areas include pharmaceutics, pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical chemistry and toxicology.
Ian is a member of the School of Biomedical Sciences administration team, based at Orange. His principal duty is to administer workplace learning for pharmacy students studying on the Orange Campus and enjoys helping students achieve their goals and aspirations. He also helps with risk management for Clinical Science students.
Ian’s association with the Pharmacy Foundation is to arrange Management Committee meetings, set the agenda and publish the minutes. He also has responsibility for tracking funding obtained by the Pharmacy Foundation. He has been in this role since January 2007.
Sarah Ansell is currently the Executive Director of Marketing and Communication at Charles Sturt University, having previously worked in private practice in Sydney and London.
Sarah has over 25 years of experience in the media and communications area, having worked predominantly within the fields of advertising and marketing. During this time she has gained significant expertise in Australian education both domestically and internationally.
Joining Charles Sturt University in 1993, Sarah has since developed extensive management experience in both a complex multi-campus institution and a regional environment. Sarah has particular interest in the areas of brand development, the student lifecycle, community engagement and regional participation.
Sarah studied Business and Finance (Media, Design and Communication) at undergraduate level in London and has an MBA from Charles Sturt.
A Justice of the Peace, Sarah sits on a number of committees within the University and has experience on a number of boards. She is a recipient of the Vice-Chancellor's award for Senior Leadership Excellence.
