Maths Skills 1 - Introductory A - SSS071

If the course you’re about to study includes maths and you feel like you need a refresher, this subject is for you!

You’ll learn foundational and non-calculator skills and cover topics such as basic arithmetic and basic algebra. If you need to extend your learning, you can progress through to the next level of our short mathematics subjects.

Topics covered in this short introductory subject include:

  • basic algebra: simplifying algebraic expressions, indices and index laws, substitution into algebraic expressions and formulae, and solving linear equations
  • basic arithmetic: operations, place value, order of operations, directed numbers, scientific notation, exact and approximate answers, rounding, decimals, fractions, percentages, ratios and rates.
