Meet your subject convenor, Amy Dennis

My work brings together the two things that I find most exciting – science and teaching. I have always found science fascinating and am amazed that there are still so many things we still don't know about our world! Teaching these subjects means that students and I can together use scientific understanding to find answers to our questions.

Amy Dennis is an experienced science lecturer who has taught and developed curriculum in university, community and school settings. She is particularly interested in using digital tools to create engaging learning experiences for students who study online, and is committed to ensuring that students in rural, remote and regional locations have access to high quality educational experiences.

Foundation Physics 1

If you would like to know more about Physics and didn’t study it at high school, this subject introduces you to measurement, vectors, force, motion and energy.

Foundation Physics 2

If you have completed Foundation Physics 1 and would like to know more, this subject extends your knowledge of measurement, vectors, force, motion and energy.

Introductory Chemistry 1

If you didn’t study chemistry at school or would like a refresher, this is a great place to start! You will be introduced to a basic model of atomic structure and apply that model to the first 20 elements to explain their properties and bonding.

Introductory Chemistry 2

This is a great place to further develop your understanding after completing Introductory Chemistry 1. You will be introduced to calculating molecular weights, the concept of the mole, and writing molecular and empirical formulas.

Introduction to Anatomy

This subject is designed to provide students who are enrolling in a tertiary anatomy subject with foundation knowledge and understanding of anatomy.
