After Graduating from Liverpool University in 1984, Neil spent 4 years in general mixed practice in the north of England before leaving the U.K. for Australia in 1989. He spent 3 years working predominantly in racetrack practice in Brisbane before moving down to Sydney in 1992 where he took up a position at Agnes Banks Equine Clinic. In 1996 he gained membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Critical Care.

In 2013 Neil fulfilled a long term ambition to complete a Master of Veterinary Studies in Conservation Medicine at Murdoch University. In 2015 he joined the staff at Charles Sturt University as a lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia.

In addition to veterinary anaesthesia he maintains a keen interest in wildlife and conservation issues as well as clinical equine work.
