Students studying undergraduate or postgraduate coursework, taking part in the Student Exchange Program and receiving credit of at least 24 points for participation in the exchange program


Eligibility

Assists with costs for taking part in the Student Exchange Program who are not successful in receiving an Australian Government Scholarship

You must:

  • be receiving credit of at least 3 x 8 point subjects (or 24 points) for your participation in the exchange program
  • not be already residing in the country in which your exchange will take place
  • be enrolled in a Charles Sturt undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree
  • agree to the terms and conditions of the exchange program

If you are an international student:

  • you must not be returning to your country of residence
  • you must abide by the conditions of your visa
  • you must be receiving credit of at least 3 x 8 point subjects (or 24 points) for your participation in the exchange program
  • be enrolled in a Charles Sturt undergraduate course
  • agree to the terms and conditions of the exchange program

Being involved in an international study program is an amazing and fulfilling opportunity. In return we ask that you share this experience with others and encourage your peers to explore these life changing opportunities also!

To receive a supplementary payment in addition to a grant, please nominate below the promotional activity/s you wish to undertake. Supplementary payments will only be made once your nominated activity had been completed and evidence provided to Charles Sturt Global.

  • You will need to nominate at least 3 activities that you will undertake to fulfil the requirements for the supplementary payment:
  • Publish a blog whilst undertaking my overseas experience and provide the link to Charles Sturt Global
  • Create a 5-minute presentation on completion of my program and present at on-campus events and provide copy to Charles Sturt Global.
  • Create a 5-minute presentation with voice over on completion of my program to distribute online and electronically and provide copy to Charles Sturt Global.
  • Speak to internal and external media for interview purposes during and after program.
  • Provide images and/or video footage to Charles Sturt Global on return to Australia for use in electronic and printed publications.
  • Attend information stalls and sessions throughout my enrolment at Charles Sturt University
  • Provide a testimonial to Charles Sturt Global on return to Australia for use in electronic and printed publications.

In addition to the activities you select in the table above, you will expected to regularly share your learning abroad experience while overseas and/or on your return to Australia.

Your commitment will be discussed in your pre-departure session before you embark on your program.

How to Apply

Once you have been accepted into the Student Exchange Program by Charles Sturt Global you will be notified if you have been successful in obtaining a Vice Chancellor Travel Grant.

Payment of the Travel Grant will only be made once applicants complete mandatory pre-departure requirements at least 4 weeks prior to their departure for their program. This includes the provision and completion of the following

  • Flight Itinerary*:  You must submit a copy of your E-ticket that clearly lists your dates, flight number/ times from the day you leave Australia until the day you return and confirmation these flights have been paid for.
  • Travel Insurance*:  You will need to ensure you have the appropriate medical and travel insurance from the day you leave Australia until the day you return.  You must submit a copy of your certificate of insurance and your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). At a minimum your insurance must include:
    • Medical Expenses $500,000
    • Repatriation Expenses $15,000
    • Personal Liability $1,000,000
    • 24hr Emergency Assistance Included
    • COVID 19 cover
  • Passport:  You must submit a copy of your passport (the page where your photo is).
  • Pre-departure modules: You will be registered for online pre-departure training and will receive an invitation to complete this.
  • Registration with World Travel Protection (WTP): You will need to download the Travel Assist V2 by WTP app from Apple App store or Android App. The app provides immediate access to 24-hour emergency medical assistance (in the event that your own insurer is unavailable), security alerts and detailed country reports. You will need to enable World Travel Protection to access your location so you can receive real-time travel and security support if an incident occurs.
  • Student Declaration form: complete and return this to Charles Sturt Global. This will be provided with your acceptance email.
  • Emergency contact form:  complete and return this to Charles Sturt Global. This will be provided with your acceptance email

In addition to the above requirements your provider may host a number of online predeparture meetings that you will be expected to attend.
