Professional Experience Scholarships
These scholarships have been developed to assist Bachelor of Veterinary Biology/Bachelor of Veterinary Science students financially whilst on placements. The scholarships open approximately in February and close in March each year.
Drs Mary and Peter Atkinson Scholarship (1 x $1000)
1 available for a year 4 student based on academic performance in year 3 and a commitment to the veterinary profession. Please provide a copy of your 3rd year results.
Piper Street Veterinary Clinic Scholarship (2 x $1000)
2 available for year 4 students based on commitment to rural Australia. Also, it is desirable that the successful applicants will each complete a clinical extramural studies (CEMS) placement at Piper Street Veterinary Clinic.
Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga Inc Scholarship (1 x $1500)
1 available for Year 4 students sound academic record in years 1-3, activity in student and/or community affairs, and commitment to rural veterinary practice. The successful recipient is required to make a presentation at a Rotary meeting.
Wagga Wagga Veterinary Hospital Scholarship (1 x $1000)
1 available for a year 5 student based on a demonstration of student having maintained paid employment throughout their studies, and will therefore forego employment to undertake placement in final year.
Kym And Lesley Abbott travel Scholarship (1 x $1000)
1 available for a year 5 student. Based on a commitment to complete a placement in another country (preferably farther afield than New Zealand). The aim of the scholarship is to assist a student gain an international experience and to be able to benefit from seeing practice, and living for a few weeks, in another country.
Tableland Veterinary Service (3 x $1000)
Tableland Veterinary Service is committed to developing the veterinarians of the future and is looking to give current students the opportunity to experience the lifestyle and veterinary industry in Far North Queensland. Tableland Veterinary Service has excellent teaching facilities and staff, and is well versed in providing a diverse, practical and enjoyable placement experience. The grant is intended to be used to assist with travel and accommodation expenses associated with undertaking placement at Tableland Veterinary Service.
